Ev Yu
Born in 1990, Ev Yu is a Manila-based visual artist and zine maker with watercolor on paper as her main medium. Most of her inspirations are from graphic design and prints, with a choice of imagery heavily based on narratives.
Yu’s art style is founded on machine interventions that can cause many accidental techniques, layering of colors, and misprints. With an understanding that there will always be a difference between machine precision and manual duplication, Yu attempts to replicate this by creating looser, miscalculated, and fluid forms. This involves a combination of static and kinetic forms, similar to the permutation of landscape images with motion, resulting in abstract forms arranged in a comic book sequence.
